INTERVALL er en scenisk komposisjon av og med Pinquins (Jennifer Torrence, Sigrun Rogstad Gomnæs og Ane Marthe Sørlien Holen) og Kjersti Alm Eriksen. 

I INTERVALL undersøker vi forholdet mellom menneske og objekt, mellom bevisste handlinger og mekaniske konsekvenser. Vi befinner oss i mellomrommet, i det indirekte, i synapsespalten der  signalene blir til komplekse nettverk. 

Vi skaper et rom hvor det fjerne blir nært, det tunge blir lett, hvor bevegelse blir lyd på avstand, og setter spor.

INTERVALL is a scenic composition by and with Pinquins (Jennifer Torrence, Sigrun Rogstad Gomnæs, and Ane Marthe Sørlien Holen), and Kjersti Alm Eriksen.

In INTERVALL we investigate the relationship between human and object, between conscious actions and mechanical consequences. We find ourself in the space in between, in the indirect, in the synapse gap where the signals become complex networks. We create a room where the distant becomes close, the heavy becomes light, where movement becomes sound from a distance, and leaves a trace.

INTERVALL had its world premiere at the 2023 Borealis Festival for Experimental Music in Bergen, Norway. It was funded by Arts Council Norway and Fond for Lyd og Bilde.

Review of the premiere at Borealis Festival 2023:

“The mind strayed toward what would have been a more satisfying conclusion to the week: the Pinquins show two nights before in the same space. At the climax of that work, the performers yanked open the wooden cube’s canopy, spilling a supply of sunflower seeds to the ground. The drizzle of seeds continued, and continued — a hypnotic, seemingly unending invocation of what a festival like Borealis can make possible.”

"I like the percussion trio Pinquins’ performance better. In I N T E R V A L L the trio joins artist Kjersti Alm Eriksen (who also later holds workshops for children). In the middle of the Corner Theater's stage stands a wooden structure on which hang numerous ropes and chains, and at their ends – lots of metallic objects. The musicians throw them down onto the boards, reaching for more props along the way, which they roll, twirl and spin, creating a symphony of sounds. It's all similar to Jean Tinguely's noisy kinetic sound sculptures, but here animated by human powers. I smile as the "Pinquinists" reach for microphones on poles and collect sounds from the center of the stage (they follow the unwritten rule of not stepping on the wooden floor of the structure) or bang on the sheet metal and floodlights above us. There is precision, humor and lightness in all this, which is always good for the music, but also a real choreographic performativity. And an exciting reflection on the essentiality of sound and the distance between intention and action, which is not short of delays and mistakes."
